Chinese Fertility Symbol
A Chinese fertility symbol may take many forms but its purpose never wavers in its ability to help women become pregnant.
Like many other cultures and nationalities, the Chinese have also embraced symbols that are believed to give women the power to conceive and deliver offspring that are healthy and happy. While many cultures embrace goddesses, figurines and depictions of motherhood as symbols of fertility, the Chinese promote a belief in fertility that is depicted through different symbols found in both artwork and clothing.
Chief among these are fish. Frequently seen jumping, swimming and in the sky, fish are believed to be a symbol because of their ability to create multiple offspring. Though many may believe dragons to be fierce, the Chinese embrace them as kind and gentle. Because of this, they represent a symbol of fertility and vigor among males.
A Chinese fertility symbol often pays homage to nature through its belief in the pomegranate. The culture believes in the fruit as a symbol of fertility because of the seeds it boasts. As an expression that belief, pictures of the fruit and those holding it were often commonplace in Asian homes in the hope that the images would help bless the household and make all who resided there fertile.
These images are often portrayed in Chinese artwork and calligraphy. Beautiful to view, they also represent the beliefs of the Asian culture that their power can bring fertility to barren women.
A belief in feng shui can also be effective. While many cultures believe in symbols to increase fertility, as do the Chinese, the Chinese also believe that the placement of objects can produce a desired atmosphere, emotion or life event. Thus, the placement of certain objects at strategic points in a room can create fertile conditions for couples along with inception of life that will be healthy.
A Chinese fertility symbol might also be found in various stones. Like many cultures, the Chinese also have looked to stones and gems for their power to not only make women fertile, but also regenerate them through a spiritual and healing renewing.
Though they may differ in beliefs and religions, the Asian culture’s embracing of the different Chinese fertility symbol represent a truism that is common among all people in the power to harness power in creating new life.
